Last Saturday I had a 3D/4D ultrasound. It truly was the most amazing experience. For those of you who may not know ... a 3D ultrasound is a medical ultrasound performed during pregnancy, providing 3D images of the fetus. These images are captured rapidly and animated to produce a 4D ultrasound. In 3D fetal scanning, instead of the sound waves being sent straight down and reflected back (like in a 2D ultrasound), they are sent at different angles. The returning echoes are processed by a sophisticated computer program resulting in reconstructed three dimensional volume images of the surface of the fetus; allowing you to see width, height and depth images.

Dad, Matt, Niyonu, Mom, Kofi and Adjoa joined me for the ultrasound
The best part about all this (besides getting a little sneak peak at what our darling little baby boateng looks like), was that Kwame was able to participate live via satellite from Iraq. He logged in to a website, and wah-la ... there was baby boateng! Because of the timing of this deployment he hadn't been able to participate in any of my other ultrasounds so this opportunity was a blessing.
some seem to think that she looks like me ; )
she slept through the entire ultrasound
